Restaurant La Promenade in Essen

The fajitas were delicious!

One could have made so much of the location of the place. Unfortunately the service staff was without an overview, the food took an extremely long time (over an hour for the starter) ... but you could accept everything if the food was good. But it wasn't. Not at all. The guacamole was gray, the meat tough and not seasoned. All this carelessly arranged and too expensive for the quality. This is my first review. But that had to be the case now.

Attention: The pictured restaurant "La Promenada" no longer exists in this form. The images and reviews (older than 2020) are not applicable to the current restaurant. The locality is now called "I viva Mexico" and has nothing to do with the Turkish specialties shown. The service was very friendly, but sometimes also disappeared for a long time (with a total of about 5 tables), the food was rather mediocre. Unfortunately we were fooled by the old Google reviews and pictures.

Service very nice. The beer garden offers a nice ambience with a view of the lake. The menu takes some getting used to. Since not everyone is familiar with Mexican cuisine, photos might help. You have to deal more intensively with the menu card until you find the right one. The selection is also modest, there is little for children. Quesadillas are completely absent. The dishes on the plate could also be arranged a little nicer. In terms of taste, however, completely ok. Not big things, but often it's the little things. Conclusion: If I were around I would eat there again. E.g. while on a bike tour, but wouldn't go there for dinner again.

Basically a very nice place. The food tastes very good, but it takes a long time to have the dishes you ordered on the table. But that will surely settle itself once the company has really settled down. We might have wished for a few more typical Mexican drinks, maybe that'll come some day. We'll definitely try our luck again.

The terrace with a view of the Ruhr is great. The food was very tasty and freshly prepared - it only took a little long. Nice people!

Very disappointed with our first visit as the overall package has many shortcomings in many ways. Starting with a grubby entre (used and dirty tablecloths were clearly visible in the anteroom spread over 2 tables), this impression unfortunately continued. Unclean glasses had to be replaced several times and 3 dead flies on the window sills at our table is a no go. A completely overwhelmed service then unfortunately confirmed the first impression. With (with us 4P) 3 occupied tables, a waiting time of 2.5 hours between the starter and the main course speaks for a considerable degree of unprofessionalism. Responding politely after 2 hours with the answer "I thought you had time" confirms the overall negative impression. We had a total of 3 starters and 4 main dishes of the max. can be described as average, whereby a main course was almost inedible. If you look at all of my reviews online, you will very quickly find that I am not a grumbler, but basically emphasize the positive first. I have a hard time here and anyone who writes about authentic Mexican cuisine has probably never been to a good Mexican restaurant.

Very good and authentic Mexican cuisine. Although the restaurant only opened recently, it was somewhat bumpy at times. But I'm sure it will work out. I wish you every success and hope that this restaurant can establish itself. Nice and always tried hard staff. Location is super located on the Ruhr and has a nice outdoor area. The Mexican or Latin American ambience is (still) missing. Top. Keep it up! ...... (and not so many jalapeños ?✌?)

We were there after a busy day at the trade fair to round off the evening. Delicious and price performance was ok. Nice service and nice atmosphere. Would eat there again!

The food was delicious, the service very attentive, short wait. Prices are reasonable - chicken spit 14,90 €.

Lamb was excellent. Nice atmosphere and great service.

Worse is never ..... luckily the toilet was ok. Further comments are unnecessary. Maybe the cook should change jobs, then he is no longer a threat to the guests.

The environment reflects the culture, appropriate and has friendly staff. Most importantly, it is very tasty and gives the right to the account. Entrees have a menu which is quite enough for wonderful wine.

We visited the restaurant spontaneously today, as we were enticed by the view of the water. However, we were extremely dissatisfied with the food. Unfortunately, the meat was partly still raw and burned from the outside. We were the only guests, but we waited three quarters of an hour for our food. The staff was average friendly, but we have rarely seen it. We will certainly not visit La Promenade again.

The food was delicious, rarely enjoyed Turkish food as it does today. We also received a warm atmosphere from the service. The whole thing was topped, that our four-legged family member was also welcome and always got enough water. Definitely recommendable!

Never again. I was there with my parents on Sunday. Until the appetizer, everything went normal. The waiter cleared the appetizer but did not bring any new cutlery. Then 2 out of 3 main courses were served. When asked if we could still get cutlery to eat, the waiter reacted (really true!) Completely puzzled. Unfortunately, we did not get the cutlery, whereupon my father got it himself. The food was well meant, but rather below average. Dry meat, small amount and expensive price. Unfortunately, we never received the third court. Our feedback on the food and especially the service was completely ignored by the waiter. Very sad performance - too bad.

We were in this restaurant recently and loved it. The food as well as the staff were terrific. Everything tasted very good and the decor of the restaurant as well as the view were just fantastic. We will definitely visit La Promenade again and look forward to it. Bye for now!

The restaurant is really nice and located in a good looking place, right in front of the river. The staff is superfriendly and their tortelloni were simply amazing: a must try.

Hands down best Restaurant in Kettwig! If you've got a little money to spend, than this restaurant is for you! When you pick a meal here, you can't go wrong, and portion size is perfect. A must go!
